How it plays
- Any correct answer counts. If the scramble was made from LEAST and you type STEAL, that is a solve. Rejecting a real word because it was not the one the game happened to pick is the most irritating thing this kind of game does.
- In the sprint, a wrong guess costs nothing but time. Skipping shows you the answer and breaks your streak.
- In the nine-letter hunt, four letters is the minimum. Length pays steeply — a six-letter word is worth more than two four-letter ones, and a nine beats everything.
- Every deal is checked before you see it: if the letters hold nothing longer than five letters, they are dealt again. About a third of random deals fail that test.
- The dictionary is around 11,000 common English words, so an obscure but legal word may be turned down. It is built to accept everyday words rather than to be exhaustive.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to unscramble a word quickly?
Look for familiar chunks rather than attempting every arrangement. Common endings such as ing, tion, ed and er, along with initial consonant clusters, carry most of the letters — and spotting one usually collapses the rest of the puzzle immediately.
How do I find more words in a nine-letter game?
Work systematically from the shortest words upward, and try each available letter as an opening. Plurals, comparatives and verb forms multiply every word you find into several more, and the words most commonly missed are ordinary ones rather than obscure ones.
Why does the game reject a word I know?
Because it checks against a specific word list, and every list differs at the margins. Proper nouns and abbreviations are conventionally excluded, and dictionaries genuinely disagree about many words. A word being real English does not guarantee it appears in any particular list.
Does playing word games improve vocabulary?
It reinforces words you already know and the letter patterns behind them, which is real and worthwhile. Genuinely learning new words comes from reading and using them in context — the game exercises retrieval rather than acquisition, and those are different things.
Why do I see the answer instantly sometimes and not others?
Because recognition depends on whether the scrambled form happens to preserve a familiar pattern. A scramble that accidentally leaves a common chunk intact is solved almost instantly, while one that breaks every familiar cluster can defeat you entirely — largely luck of the arrangement.

Is there a strategy for the timer?
